The Kibaha District Council has intensified measures to control dangerous crocodiles in the Ruvu River at Ruvu Stesheni Village, in an ongoing operation that runs day and night.
Wildlife officers Lameck Makuwe and Peter Kisaka said the council is committed to ensuring the safety of communities along the river.
They urged residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect themselves and their livestock from crocodile attacks.
The officers have also been educating residents on safety measures, including how to avoid encounters with wild animals and respond appropriately in case of danger.
Local residents praised the council’s timely intervention and expressed gratitude to District Executive Director, Ms. Regina L. Bieda, for deploying experts to the area.
“We are satisfied with the council’s efforts to protect our community,” said some residents.
To enhance community safety, the contact numbers of the wildlife officers have been shared, enabling residents to report any dangerous sightings immediately.
Authorities stressed the importance of prompt reporting to allow swift action against any threats.
