Chusa Mining Ltd boosts health and education projects in Mirerani

Chusa Mining Ltd has stepped up efforts to support the Mirerani community in Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, through several impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The company, led by Director Joseph Mwakipesile, is constructing a women and children’s ward at Mirerani Health Centre, a project aimed at improving local healthcare services.

Abdalah Said, the construction supervisor, said the building has reached the lintel stage. “The timber for the roof is ready. Within three days, we will start erecting the rafters while completing the floor slab,” he explained.

Rachel Njau, Secretary of the Manyara Regional Miners’ Association (MAREMA) Mirerani branch, praised the company for investing in community projects. She urged other mining companies and Tanzanite miners to follow Chusa Mining’s example and give back to the community that hosts their operations.

“The women and children’s ward is progressing well, with roofing, corrugated iron sheets, and finishing works underway,” Njau said.

The company’s CSR extends beyond healthcare. In 2025, Sporah Mwakipesile, the director’s wife, pledged to provide ten mobility chairs for children with special needs at Tanzanite Primary School.

She has now delivered the chairs, along with 20 mattresses and 60 beds for the children, which are in the final stages of preparation.

Mirerani Ward Councilor Salome Nelson Mnyawi commended the initiative, saying it would greatly benefit children with special needs.

“We are grateful to Chusa Mining and the director’s wife for their support. The mobility chairs, mattresses, and beds are ready for handover to our children,” she said.

Njau called on other development partners to emulate Chusa Mining Ltd, emphasizing the importance of CSR in uplifting communities surrounding mining operations.
