Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mobhare Matinyi, has underscored Tanzania’s growing appeal as an investment destination during a high-level meeting with Swedish business leaders, highlighting wide-ranging opportunities across key economic sectors.
The meeting, held on February 6, 2026 at the Tanzanian Embassy in Stockholm, brought together members of the Sweden Africa Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Tanzanian government institutions. It aimed to promote Tanzania’s business climate, investment incentives and long-term development agenda.
The Swedish delegation was led by the Chamber’s President, Ms Åsa Jarskog, while Tanzania was represented by the embassy team alongside government agencies that joined virtually from Dar es Salaam.
Institutions that made presentations included the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), the Bank of Tanzania (BoT), the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), and the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA).

The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC), together with their members, also participated.
Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Matinyi outlined the government’s trade and investment priorities, aligning them with Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 and the country’s commitment to political and economic stability.
He drew insights from recent speeches by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, including her address at the inauguration of the 13th Union Parliament in November 2025, her remarks to diplomats during the New Year Sherry Party at Chamwino State House in January 2026, and her statement at the World Government Summit in Dubai earlier this month during the launch of the Global Africa Investment Forum.

The ambassador noted that Tanzania is actively promoting investment in strategic sectors such as energy, manufacturing, agribusiness, forestry, the blue economy, tourism, the digital economy, critical minerals, infrastructure and transport.
“Tanzania has long been an investment magnet and remains open for even more investors,” he said, echoing the President’s message to the global investment community.
Following the engagement, several Swedish companies initiated preliminary discussions with the embassy, expressing interest in exploring opportunities in waste-to-energy solutions and medical technology areas in which Sweden has established global expertise.
The meeting further agreed to pursue the organisation of a trade and investment mission to Tanzania later this year, tentatively scheduled for September or October.
The proposed mission will be coordinated by the Tanzanian Embassy in collaboration with the Sweden Africa Chamber of Commerce and Qatar Airways, with the aim of enabling investors to directly assess opportunities and incentives available in the country.
