TANESCO employees have been encouraged to continue working diligently to ensure Tanzanians receive reliable and sufficient electricity to support daily life, businesses, and national development.
The message was delivered during the closing of the 55th TANESCO Workers’ General Council Meeting held in Dodoma on January 24, 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the TANESCO Board Chairperson, Vice Chairperson Ambassador Zuhura Bundala emphasized that dedicated and ethical work by employees is essential to improving electricity services for citizens.
“I urge all TANESCO staff to continue working hard in their respective roles so that the organization can serve Tanzanians more efficiently, professionally, and reliably,” she said.
Ambassador Bundala also praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued support to TANESCO, particularly through funding major electricity projects aimed at increasing power generation and expanding access across the country.
These projects are expected to improve power reliability for households, businesses, industries, and social services such as hospitals and schools.
She further commended TANESCO’s Board and Management for improving employee welfare, including salary enhancements and incentives designed to motivate staff to deliver better services to the public.
Employees were reminded to uphold integrity, professionalism, and legal standards while serving citizens.
Earlier, TANESCO Managing Director Mr. Lazaro Twange thanked the Board for supporting efforts to strengthen the utility’s performance and resource management.
He reaffirmed TANESCO’s commitment to increasing revenue, improving efficiency, and enhancing electricity service delivery to Tanzanians.
“We are committed to implementing strategies that will strengthen TANESCO financially and improve electricity services for citizens across the country,” Mr. Twange said.
The meeting brought together TANESCO leadership, employee representatives, and the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUICO). Participants agreed to strengthen teamwork, accountability, and service standards to ensure Tanzanians benefit from more stable and dependable electricity.
