Peace and Security under President Samia boost Ukonga’s local development

By The Respondents Reporter

In Ukonga, residents are linking the area’s recent development surge to the sustained peace and security championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Community leaders say the calm environment has been pivotal in allowing infrastructure projects and local businesses to flourish.

Mr. Salum Issa Salum, a resident of Buyuni Ward, said that while the area faced challenges late last year, stability has now returned, paving the way for visible development.

“President Samia has listened to our needs. Many roads in our area have been upgraded to tarmac through initiatives such as the DMDP project connecting Ukonga to Kivule. These improvements have made transport easier and boosted business activities,” Mr. Salum said.

Residents note that the secure environment has attracted both public and private investments, while facilitating the smooth delivery of social services.

Shops, markets, and transport businesses are now thriving, providing livelihoods and improving standards of living.

“I wish the President long life and good health. We all have a responsibility to safeguard the peace that allows these opportunities to grow,” Mr. Salum added.

Other residents highlighted that beyond roads, the area has seen improvements in schools, health facilities, and public spaces, all contributing to better social and economic outcomes.

The community’s experience reflects a broader national lesson: peace and security are not only essential for safety but are also critical drivers of development.

Citizens in Ukonga say the environment created under President Samia’s leadership demonstrates how governance that prioritizes stability can deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
