A 34-year-old man, Gidion Mbwambo, has died in a suspected suicide at a guesthouse in Kisanga area, Morogoro Municipal. Police say the incident occurred early on January 27, 2026.
Morogoro Regional Police Commander, Alex Mkama, told journalists that the deceased had checked into Room 106 at the guesthouse on January 26. The body was discovered after blood stains and liquid were noticed outside the room.
“Upon forcing the door open for inspection, it was confirmed that he had died from a deep cut to the neck inflicted with a sharp object,” Commander Mkama said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The police have urged guesthouse operators to follow strict procedures for verifying and monitoring guests to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
