Kasekenya commends contractor for timely completion of Minjingu Bridge

Deputy Minister for Works, Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, has commended Rocktronic Ltd for completing the construction of the Minjingu Bridge on the Arusha–Babati highway on time and to the required quality standards.

Eng. Kasekenya made the remarks after inspecting road and bridge projects in Manyara Region, noting that timely and quality delivery of infrastructure projects strengthens the government’s confidence in local contractors and homegrown project supervisors.

“The government’s intention is to empower local contractors and supervisors to implement more projects. Completing projects on time and to quality standards builds trust and opens opportunities for them to be awarded additional works,” he said.

During the inspection, the Deputy Minister directed the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) Manyara Regional Manager to ensure the bridge is fitted with lighting and reinforced with protective embankments to safeguard it against flooding over the long term.

Acting TANROADS Manyara Regional Manager, Eng. Amon Mngulu, said more than Sh6 billion was invested in the construction of the 50-metre-long bridge.

He added that the project will help eliminate recurrent flooding at the site, which previously cut off the road during heavy rains and disrupted movement for road users and nearby communities.

Eng. Kasekenya is currently on an inspection tour of road and bridge infrastructure projects in Arusha and Manyara regions.
