Government assures stable fuel supply nationwide

By The Respondents Reporter

The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a steady, safe and affordable supply of fuel across the country, pledging to deepen cooperation with key stakeholders in the petroleum sector to safeguard national energy security.

The assurance was given by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Eng Felchesmi Mramba, on January 31, 2026, in Dar es Salaam during a meeting with investors from oil marketing companies operating in the country.

Mramba said the government will continue to work closely with dealers and distributors of petrol and diesel while strengthening an enabling business environment for investors.

He said such cooperation is essential to guarantee uninterrupted fuel availability and maintain competitive prices for consumers.

He noted that the ministry remains committed to supporting private sector investment in the petroleum industry, adding that close engagement with stakeholders helps address operational challenges and enhances efficiency, safety and reliability across the fuel supply chain.

Mramba also commended oil sector stakeholders for their cooperation with the government, particularly during the election period, saying their role was critical in maintaining stability and preventing fuel shortages across the country.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Dr James Mataragio, the Commissioner for Petroleum and Gas, Godluck Shirima, along with senior officials from the ministry and institutions under it.

The government said it will continue to hold regular consultations with industry players as part of efforts to strengthen energy security and support economic growth.
