Finance Minister, World Bank review implementation of development projects

The Minister of Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar (MP), has held discussions with the World Bank’s Resident Director, Mr. Nathan Belete, on the implementation of World Bank–funded programmes in Tanzania.

The meeting, held at Treasury Square in Dodoma, focused on the progress of ongoing projects and programmes supported by the World Bank, with emphasis on efficiency, accountability and alignment with national development priorities.

Ambassador Omar thanked the World Bank for its continued support, describing it as a key and long-standing development partner to Tanzania. 


He said the Government highly values the partnership, noting that World Bank financing has played a significant role in supporting economic and social development through strategic projects.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening coordination and supervision of all externally funded programmes to ensure timely and effective implementation.

On his part, Mr. Belete said Tanzania is among the countries with the largest World Bank project portfolios in the region. 


He commended the Government for the strong performance in implementing the projects and expressed the Bank’s readiness to continue supporting priority development initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Commissioner for External Finance, Mr. Robert Mtengule, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Representative Ms. Martine Valcin, the World Bank Resident Operations Manager Ms. Milena Stefanova, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance.
