The Minister of Energy, Deogratius Ndejembi, has convened a strategic working session with the Advisory Board of the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA), aimed at strengthening the agency’s performance and advancing its long-term operational efficiency.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy headquarters in Mtumba Government City, Dodoma, focused on enhancing governance, improving procurement systems, and reinforcing PBPA’s role in securing a stable and cost-effective petroleum supply for Tanzania.
The high-level session brought together key energy sector leaders, including the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Felchesm Mramba; PBPA Board Chairperson, Dr. Lutengano Mwakahesya; PBPA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Erasto Simon; alongside board members and technical experts from the ministry.
Discussions centered on reviewing PBPA’s current performance, addressing emerging challenges in fuel importation and distribution, and identifying strategies to improve transparency, efficiency, and financial sustainability.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen institutional capacity to ensure reliable fuel supply amid fluctuating global energy markets.
Ndejembi emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting PBPA in fulfilling its mandate, noting that a strong and efficient bulk fuel procurement system is essential for safeguarding national energy security and protecting consumers from unnecessary price volatility.
The deliberations form part of broader government efforts to modernize the energy sector, enhance accountability in fuel procurement, and promote economic stability through reliable access to petroleum products.
