The Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone has promised strict enforcement against serious crimes while assuring the public of tight security ahead of the CAF Champions League match between Simba SC and Esperance de Tunis on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Speaking to journalists, the Regional Police Commander of Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander, Jumanne Muliro said the force is stepping up efforts to curb crimes that have long threatened public safety.
“Crimes against persons, including murder, rape, sodomy, defilement, and offences involving schoolchildren, remain a serious threat to our communities,” he said.
The Commander highlighted recent court rulings between December 2025 and January 2026 that saw harsh sentences handed down to offenders.
“Peter Julius of Mbezi Mwisho and Rajab Rashid Goma of Mwanagati were sentenced to life imprisonment for sodomy. John Jacob Nyamahemba of Mbagala received life imprisonment for rape. Dunia Sadick of Chanika and Abdallah Faustin of Kibada were each sentenced to 30 years for rape, while Abubakar Jumanne Membe, also known as Abuu, of Mbagala, received life imprisonment for sodomy,” he said.
“These convictions send a clear message that crimes against human dignity will not be tolerated in Dar es Salaam,” the Commander added.
On road safety, the police warned reckless drivers, particularly those misusing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes, that strict legal action will be taken.
“We have increased public education and enforcement to protect motorists, pedestrians, and passengers,” he said.
The Commander also assured football fans that security measures are in place for the upcoming Simba SC–Esperance match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
“Security will be tight both inside and outside the stadium. We want residents and fans to enjoy the match safely,” he said.
He insisted, “Our goal is to safeguard the people of Dar es Salaam, maintain law and order, and ensure that justice prevails. We will not hesitate to act against anyone who breaks the law.”
