Airtel Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding customer information by marking International Data Privacy Week 2026 with an internal staff training focused on the importance and impact of data protection.

The training session was conducted in collaboration with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), where Airtel employees from various departments were taken through key principles of data privacy, responsible data handling and the role every staff member plays in maintaining customer trust.

Leading the session, Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations at PDPC, Mr. Innocent Mungy, guided the team through the training, emphasizing that data protection is a legal obligation and a shared responsibility across the organization.

“Data privacy is a responsibility we all carry every day. Each of us plays a role in ensuring that the personal information entrusted to Airtel is handled with care, respect, and in line with the law. said Mr. Mungy.

The session highlighted practical steps employees can take to identify potential risks, prevent data breaches and ensure that customer information remains secure and confidential at all times.

Speaking during the training, Airtel Tanzania Managing Director thanked staff for their continued dedication to protecting customer information.

“As we commemorate International Data Privacy Week 2026, I want to thank each of you for your daily care, dedication, and attention in keeping our customers’ data safe.

Your efforts ensure that our customers trust Airtel across all our services, which strengthens our reputation and drives the company forward, and are highly appreciated. Asanteni sana!

“Every action you take helps protect this trust, and I am truly proud of the commitment you show every single day. We take full responsibility and accountability for protecting customer data. We are committed to supporting each of you by listening, advising, and guiding whenever needed”.

International Data Privacy Week is observed globally to raise awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding personal data and promoting best practices in data protection.

For Airtel Tanzania, the week served as a reminder that strong systems, clear policies and continuous staff engagement are key pillars in protecting customer information.

Through ongoing training and awareness initiatives, Airtel continues to build a culture where data privacy is everyone’s responsibility, ensuring that customers can confidently use Airtel’s digital and financial services knowing their information is secure.
