ACT Wazalendo central committee to meet for post-election review

The Central Committee of ACT Wazalendo is set to convene on Saturday, January 18, 2026, in Dar es Salaam for its first formal meeting following the October 2025 General Election.

In a statement issued to the public, the party said the meeting will take place at its national headquarters in Magomeni and will be chaired by the party’s leader, Mr Hakainde Hichilema. Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 4:00 a.m.

The meeting will receive and deliberate on reports from the party Secretariat, with the Central Committee expected to issue directives on the implementation of key party activities. 

Central to the agenda will be the presentation and discussion of the party’s report on the 2025 General Election.

According to the statement, the committee will assess the conduct of the election, review the prevailing political environment in the country, and draw lessons aimed at shaping the party’s future strategy and direction.

The Central Committee will also deliberate on human rights issues that arose during and after the General Election.

The meeting forms part of ACT Wazalendo’s post-election internal processes, aimed at strengthening party governance and redefining priorities for the next political phase.

The statement was issued by Ms Shangwe Ayo, Deputy Secretary for Information, Communications and Public Relations of ACT Wazalendo.
