The Tanzania Shipping Agency Corporation (TASAC) is making marine transport safer and more efficient, a move that will directly benefit ordinary Tanzanians, businesses, and communities across the country.
Deputy Minister of Transport, David Kihenzile, praised TASAC on December 15, 2025, during his visit to the agency’s exhibition at the 18th Transport Sector Performance Assessment Conference, held at the National Convention Centre in Arusha.
“TASAC’s efforts are transforming the marine sector, making travel on lakes and seas safer and improving the flow of goods across the country. Upgrades at ports like Bagamoyo will boost trade, create jobs, and support the daily lives of Tanzanians,” Kihenzile said.
He commended TASAC’s management of search and rescue centers, which are crucial for preventing accidents and protecting lives on Tanzanian waters.
TASAC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mohammed Salum, said the agency continues to focus on improving marine transport services, ensuring safety and security, protecting the environment, and supporting maritime business activities.
“Our rescue boats and medical boat are always ready to assist anyone in danger on the water. We are committed to safeguarding lives while providing reliable services for people and businesses alike,” Mr. Salum said.
The 18th Transport Sector Performance Assessment Conference, running from December 15 to 17, 2025, brings together stakeholders to evaluate and improve the sector’s performance, ensuring it meets the needs of Tanzanians and supports economic growth.
