The Tanzania Police Force has reaffirmed the ban on all forms of public demonstrations, calling on citizens to respect the directive and continue with their daily activities as security agencies work to preserve peace and stability nationwide.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday from Police Headquarters in Dodoma, the Police reminded the public that the planned “peaceful demonstrations” remain prohibited since December 5, 2025, in accordance with the 1977 Constitution and the Police Force and Auxiliary Services Act, Cap 322.
The statement assured the public that the Police, in collaboration with other security organs, will continue safeguarding people, property, and national security to ensure that economic and social activities proceed without interruption.
It further cautioned that any individual who violates the ban, disrupts public order, or uses propaganda to mobilise others against lawful instructions will face appropriate legal action.
The Police said such measures are necessary to protect citizens and prevent actions that could jeopardise national stability.
“The public is urged to remain calm, continue with their daily routines, and comply with the guidance provided by security agencies,” the notice stated.
The announcement was signed by the Police Spokesperson on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
