Mtumba Constituency Member of Parliament, Anthony Mavunde, has called on the community to remember and care for widows and orphans, offering support to help them overcome various challenges and bring them comfort.

Mavunde made the remarks today during a short ceremony organized by the Joy of Giving Foundation, which distributed essential items to widows and orphans, including food supplies and school materials for children.

“I commend the Joy of Giving Foundation for consistently supporting those in need. You are a positive example to the community, sending a strong message about the importance of caring for widows and orphans, which we know is a noble act. I will continue collaborating with various stakeholders to serve widows and orphans, and we are planning to hold a major annual event for the needy every January to create a lasting foundation for addressing their challenges,” Mavunde said.

The Director of the Joy of Giving Foundation, Ms. Jackline Nitwa Machoke, added that the foundation plans to organize the annual event focused on widows and orphans and appealed to stakeholders to support the initiative.

She emphasized that this would help the foundation achieve its goals, including daily services for people with illnesses and providing access to health insurance for citizens living in difficult conditions.

The event benefited nearly 200 orphans and widows, who all received various items provided by Hon. Mavunde and the Joy of Giving Foundation.
