Tanzania’s Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, has urged citizens to use the upcoming year-end holidays to visit Kitulo National Park, Mpanga Kipengere, and other unique tourist destinations across the country, highlighting the opportunity to experience Tanzania’s rare and exceptional natural heritage.
Dr. Kijaji made the call during an inspection visit to the parks in Njombe Region, aimed at reviewing conservation activities a crucial step in boosting the international promotion of southern Tanzania’s tourism attractions.
The Minister emphasized that the Ministry is fully prepared to provide world-class services to all visitors, ensuring that tourists return repeatedly to enjoy the country’s protected areas.
She also directed the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) and the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) to continue developing new tourism products, keeping pace with the growing number of visitors a positive outcome of government efforts under President Samia Suluhu Hassan to promote Tanzania internationally.
Dr. Kijaji encouraged TANAPA and TAWA to open more opportunities for investors to enhance park infrastructure, including recreational facilities, accommodations, and roads.
She highlighted the importance of engaging young people in promoting Kitulo National Park, noting it as a way to attract more tourists while creating jobs and income opportunities for youth.
“Using young people to promote these parks will help showcase Tanzania’s unique and globally significant natural attractions while empowering local communities economically,” said Dr. Kijaji.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande, praised communities for their dedication to conservation and urged continued collaboration with the Ministry to sustainably manage the country’s natural resources for the benefit of all.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Secretary-General Nkoba Mabula and other senior officials during the visit.
