Government strengthens coordination and standards in public communication

The government has stepped up efforts to improve coordination and professional standards in public communication following the opening of a National Working Session for the Directorate of Presidential Communications and Government Information Officers in Dar es Salaam.

The session was officially opened on December 17, 2025 by Chief Secretary and Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka at the Johari Rotana Hotel. 

It brings together government communication leaders and information officers to align messaging, share experience and strengthen a unified approach to public information management.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Kusiluka said strong and well-coordinated communication is essential for effective governance, noting that inconsistent or unclear messaging can weaken public understanding of government actions and priorities. 

He emphasized the need for accuracy, professionalism and discipline in delivering official information, particularly across digital platforms.

Held under the theme “Humanity and Responsible Communication,” the working session is focusing on improving internal coordination, reinforcing ethical standards and enhancing institutional capacity within government communication units. 

Participants are reviewing existing practices and exploring ways to modernize communication systems to match the changing media landscape.

The meeting has been organized by the Directorate of Presidential Communications at State House in partnership with the Information Services Department (Maelezo). 

Outcomes from the discussions are expected to guide future improvements in how government institutions plan, manage and disseminate official information.

The forum signals the government’s commitment to building a more coherent, professional and accountable public communication system that supports effective leadership and national development.
