Uyole Constituency Member of Parliament, Dr. Tulia Acksoni, has built homes for two residents, including Mama Ntiliye and Esta Kyanula of Igawilo, whose houses were recently destroyed by fire.
Earlier, Dr. Tulia, who also served as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, provided roofing sheets, construction materials, and TZS 500,000 in cash to support Esta Kyanula’s household, which lost all possessions in the blaze and had to rely on temporary shelter from neighbors.
According to the Tulia Trust, Esta’s home was completely destroyed in a fire at the end of November. Esta, her children, and her husband, who recently suffered a leg injury, were temporarily accommodated by neighbors following the incident.
Dr. Tulia expressed deep concern over the situation and pledged to continue supporting Esta’s children with their school needs.
“I urge my fellow citizens to help wherever possible. Never allow your neighbor to go hungry while you have food at home. Strive to share so they too can receive something, even if it’s small,” Dr. Tulia said.
For her part, Esta Kyanula expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing Dr. Tulia’s assistance as an act of worship. She also thanked neighbors, relatives, and friends who provided shelter, food, and other essential support during the difficult time.
In another gesture, Dr. Tulia handed over a newly built home in Mwamfute Street, Ilemi Ward, Mbeya, to the family of Anyosisye Mwalyaje after their previous house was completely destroyed by fire. The home was constructed through the Tulia Trust.
Dr. Tulia noted that the Trust identifies families in need through local community networks. “From now on, to identify people in need, we will change the procedure. Residents will attend a street meeting to propose who should receive priority assistance,” he said.
“Many people face challenges, and we cannot reach everyone directly. But through you, the community, it becomes easier to identify those with the greatest needs because we all know each other in the neighborhoods,” Dr. Tulia added.
Ilemi Ward Councilor Baraka Zambi praised Dr. Tulia for the support, noting that the constituency residents fully support the impactful work being done by their Member of Parliament.
