The Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) has introduced a structured, area-based water supply timetable for Dar es Salaam and parts of the Coast Region as part of measures to enhance service delivery and ensure equitable distribution of water.
According to DAWASA, the timetable follows a comprehensive review of the water distribution system and is intended to improve reliability while technical and operational improvements continue across the network.
The new arrangement groups areas according to supply routes, with each route assigned specific service days.
Neighbourhoods served through the Kimara supply lines, including parts of the city centre, Ubungo, Manzese, Magomeni, Tandale, Sinza, Kijitonyama, Msasani, Oyster Bay and Kinondoni, will receive water on designated days based on their respective routes.
The schedule also covers areas supplied through Mshikamano, Makabe, Mbezi Mwisho, Madale, Bunju, Mbweni, Malolo and Tegeta, as well as fast-growing peripheral zones such as Kigamboni, Temeke, Ukonga, Kisarawe, Pugu, Buyuni and Chamazi.
DAWASA said allocating specific service days to each route will help manage demand, reduce pressure on the system and minimise unplanned interruptions.
The authority said the timetable will allow customers to plan their daily water use more effectively while enabling engineers to operate and maintain the network in a more efficient and coordinated manner.
DAWASA has urged customers to adhere to the announced schedule, use water responsibly and promptly report service challenges through the toll-free customer care number 181.
The authority emphasised that the arrangement is temporary and will be reviewed regularly, reiterating its commitment to restoring stable, reliable and adequate water supply to all customers in Dar es Salaam and the Coast Region.
