ACT Wazalendo has continued its legal challenge of the October 29, 2025, general elections, citing widespread irregularities that, the party says, undermined the principles of law, justice, and democracy.
On December 19, 2025, the High Court of Dar es Salaam, under Justice Salma Maghimbi, heard the parliamentary election petition for Chamazi Constituency, case number 31445 of 2025, filed by former ACT Wazalendo candidate Mr. Juma Kondo Bungo. The hearing focused on the petitioner’s request to reduce the security for costs.
The Court approved the request, reducing the cost from five million shillings per respondent to one million shilling each. With three respondents in the case the Constituency Election Officer, the Attorney General, and the CCM candidate the total cost now stands at three million shillings.
The Court ordered the payment to be made within 14 days to allow the main case to proceed. The matter has been adjourned to January 6, 2025, for further hearing.
In Songea, the High Court also addressed the Tunduru South parliamentary election petition, case number 29982 of 2025.
The Government, defending the results, raised objections, which the petitioners are yet to respond to. The Court adjourned the matter to December 22, 2025, for further proceedings on the objections.
ACT Wazalendo has also filed election petitions in Ilala, Rungwe, and Kigoma constituencies, as well as several local government wards across the country, aiming to protect the rule of law and demand accountability.
The party emphasized its hope that the courts will handle all cases fairly and deliver justice in line with the law, strengthening democratic processes in Tanzania.
