Youth call for peace, urge peers to use social media productively

By Our Correspondent

Young people across Tanzania have been urged to safeguard peace and use social media as a platform for creativity and income generation instead of spreading messages that incite violence and division.

Speaking to reporters today, November 10, 2025, a group of youth expressed concern over the recent violent protests that took place on October 29, 2025, which left the nation in deep sorrow.

They called upon their peers to refrain from being influenced by divisive online content and to focus on opportunities that promote unity, innovation, and national development.

The youth emphasized that social media should serve as a tool for education, entrepreneurship, and positive engagement rather than a space for spreading misinformation and hate speech.

They further appealed to the government, civil society, and digital platforms to strengthen awareness programs that promote responsible online behavior and digital entrepreneurship among young people.
