Young entrepreneurs call for respect and protection of peace in Tanzania

By Our Reporter

Young entrepreneurs from Dar es Salaam have urged other youths across the country to respect and protect Tanzania’s peace.

They called on young people to avoid being influenced by groups that incite violence and disrupt national unity and social cohesion.

The appeal comes weeks after violent incidents on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, when, in various cities including Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Mbeya, and Songwe, groups of individuals engaged in looting, property destruction, and arson targeting both public and private assets.

Among those who spoke to us were women involved in popular street food businesses known as “Mama Ntilie.”

In addition to highlighting the economic impact of the unrest, Bi. Asha Mbaraka emphasized the importance of peace and urged the government to address the rising food prices affecting citizens.

Other youths also stressed the need to safeguard peace and reduce tension among young people, noting that the events of October 29 were not peaceful demonstrations but acts of violence, chaos, and destruction of property and public services.
