The new Vice President, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has pledged to continue providing close support to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, emphasizing administrative continuity while leveraging the expertise of former Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango.

Speaking at a formal handover ceremony at Chamwino State House, Dr. Nchimbi highlighted the groundwork completed during the first phase of the sixth-term government, describing it as crucial for ensuring smooth preparations for the 2025 general elections and effective policy coordination.

The remarks signal an intent to maintain stability within the executive branch while aligning government operations with the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) manifesto.

“The achievements of the first phase created efficiencies that strengthened governance operations,” Dr. Nchimbi said, stressing his commitment to provide strategic advice to the President and facilitate the implementation of development-focused policies.

He underscored the role of the Vice President’s Office as a central hub for policy execution, particularly in sectors such as the blue economy and socio-economic development.

Dr. Nchimbi also recognized the continued advisory value of former Vice President Mpango, whose experience in macroeconomic management and policy oversight is seen as instrumental in bridging institutional memory with new leadership approaches.

“We welcome his guidance where needed,” he said, signaling a pragmatic approach to governance that combines continuity with fresh leadership.

Former Vice President Mpango congratulated Dr. Nchimbi and urged him to exercise wisdom and humility in executing his duties, noting that the Vice President’s Office functions as both a principal advisory body and a bridge between the presidency and citizens.

By publicly affirming both continuity and collaboration with his predecessor, Dr. Nchimbi positions himself as a stabilizing figure within the executive, enhancing public confidence in the administration’s capacity to implement policies effectively.

The handover also underscores the CCM’s focus on seamless leadership transitions and institutional resilience, key factors in sustaining governance credibility and advancing development initiatives across the country.
