Celebrated South African coach Pitso Mosimane, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, is set to be the guest of honour at the official launch of the Yanga Soccer School on November 15, 2025, at Muhimbili Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Yanga Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mtine said the project marks a major milestone in the club’s commitment to developing youth football in Tanzania.
“This initiative will make a significant contribution to the growth of youth football in our country,” said Mtine.
“The Yanga Soccer School adopts a structured model used by top clubs globally to nurture young talent. We have many children who dream of becoming footballers but lack a clear development pathway. This school will cater for age groups U-11, U-13, and U-15.”he added
Mtine added that the launch of the school comes at a perfect time, as many parents face challenges finding suitable environments for their children to grow and train in football.
Yanga Spokesperson Ally Kamwe said the main goal of the project is to identify and nurture talented youngsters from grassroots level to professional football.
“The Yanga Soccer School will help children achieve their dreams of becoming professional players,” Kamwe said.
“We urge parents to bring their children because they will benefit from quality training, mentorship, and exposure. The school will also provide a safe environment, ensure regular health monitoring, and promote strong sporting values.”he added
According to Yanga Technical Director Paul Mathew, the school is part of Yanga’s long-term vision to create a sustainable football development system.
“Outstanding players will have opportunities to join Yanga’s U-17 and U-20 teams,” he said. “Yanga is a respected institution in Tanzania and beyond, and this initiative will serve as a foundation for sports development in the country.”
Meanwhile, Yanga Director of Competitions Ibrahim Mohamed announced that the school will charge TZS 600,000 for the first month, covering registration and training costs.
“The fee structure includes TZS 50,000 for registration, TZS 150,000 for training kits, and TZS 400,000 for coaching sessions,” Mohamed explained.
“From the second month onward, participants will pay TZS 400,000 per month. Registration forms are available at the club’s Jangwani offices.”he added
He added that promising young players who perform well will have the chance to progress into Yanga’s senior team in the future.
The launch event, to be graced by Mosimane one of Africa’s most accomplished and respected football tacticians is expected to attract parents, youth coaches, football fans, and sports development stakeholders. It marks a new chapter in Yanga’s efforts to groom the next generation of Tanzanian football stars and strengthen the nation’s football development framework.
