Deogratius Ndejembi has taken the helm of Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy, pledging to continue and accelerate the progress achieved under former Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Dr. Doto Mashaka Biteko.

The handover ceremony was held today, November 20, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mtumba, Dodoma.

Minister Ndejembi highlighted that the energy sector had made significant strides in recent years, citing improved operational efficiency, enhanced service delivery, and measurable progress in ongoing energy projects.

He emphasized that his leadership would focus on sustaining this momentum and ensuring the government’s 2030 energy targets are fully met.

“Tanzania’s energy sector is crucial for economic growth and national development. I am committed to building on the solid foundation laid by Dr. Biteko and driving new initiatives that will expand access to reliable and sustainable energy across the country,” Minister Ndejembi said.

Dr. Biteko, reflecting on his tenure, praised the Ministry’s teams for their dedication and pledged his support to Minister Ndejembi in achieving the sector’s long-term vision.

“Much of what I have learned during my time at the Ministry I now leave in your capable hands. My prayers and best wishes are with you as you take forward this important work,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy, Salome Makamba, Permanent Secretary Mr. Felchesmi Mramba, and senior Ministry officials.

Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to a smooth leadership transition and continued progress in Tanzania’s energy sector.

With Minister Ndejembi now in charge, observers expect renewed focus on expanding energy access, supporting major infrastructure projects, and advancing Tanzania’s renewable energy agenda, a key pillar in the nation’s development strategy.
