Mwigulu Nchemba sworn in as Tanzania’s Prime Minister

Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba was officially sworn in as Tanzania’s new Prime Minister today, beginning his first five-year term under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Dr. Nchemba was appointed by President Samia on October 13 and received Parliament’s approval before taking the oath of office. Following the swearing-in, the President is expected to announce her new cabinet.

The colourful ceremony in Dodoma drew top leaders from across the country. Former President Jakaya Kikwete, former Vice President Philip Mpango, and former Prime Ministers Kassim Majaliwa and Mizengo Pinda were among those present.

Other senior officials included CCM Vice-Chairman for Mainland Tanzania Stephen Wasira, Vice President Emmanuel Nchimbi, Attorney General Hamza Johari, Deputy Speaker of the 13th Parliament Daniel Sillo, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila, and Arusha Regional Commissioner Amos Makalla.

Dr. Nchemba, a veteran politician and experienced government official, has pledged to serve with diligence and contribute to Tanzania’s socio-economic development. 

Observers say his appointment signals continuity in government policies and stability in national leadership.
