Morogoro-based journalist and Uhuru newspaper reporter, Latifa Ganzel, has officially taken nomination forms to contest the position of Deputy Mayor of Morogoro Municipal Council.
The nomination process for Mayor and Deputy Mayor under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party opened today, November 20, and will close tomorrow, November 21, at 4:00 PM.
Khalid Hossein King, Secretary of CCM Youth League (UVCCM) in Morogoro Urban District, handed over the forms to candidates on behalf of the district CCM Secretary.
He said the exercise is progressing well, noting strong interest from party members seeking to contest the positions.
Speaking after collecting her forms, Latifa Ganzel, currently a Special Seats Councilor, said that after serving in the council for ten years, she believes it is the right time to aim for the deputy mayoral seat.
“As a councilor, I feel it is my right to contest this position. My priority will be to explore new revenue sources for Morogoro Municipality in close collaboration with the elected mayor,” Ganzel said.
