The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki, has called on the Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) to embrace reforms, innovation, and technology as part of building a modern postal system that meets the needs of Tanzanians and competes globally.

Speaking during a meeting with TPC management, Minister Kairuki emphasized that the “new postal service” must be customer-focused, innovative, and aligned with rapid technological changes.

She urged the corporation to strengthen financial systems, enhance service delivery, and learn from global best practices to better serve communities across the country.

“The postal service of today must be competitive, creative, and technologically driven. We must understand the needs of our people, build partnerships with other institutions, and ensure that citizens’ data is protected,” she said, highlighting the importance of implementing the Data Protection Policy and deepening cooperation with the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Postmaster General Macrice Mbodo briefed the Minister on the corporation’s history, current operations, and achievements.

He highlighted services such as Swift Pack, Kipepeo online store, Posta Kiganjani, and various financial and digital services.

He also shared TPC’s five-year strategy aimed at improving efficiency, expanding services, and reaching more Tanzanians.

During the visit, Minister Kairuki and Deputy Minister Dr. Switbert Zacharia Mkama toured TPC’s operational facilities, including the cargo inspection area, control room, and HazMat ID system, which detects chemical components in parcels.

The tour demonstrated how technology is used to improve daily postal operations and ensure safe, reliable services.

The Postmaster General and management team thanked the Minister for her visit, pledging to increase efforts to achieve TPC’s five-year goals.

They committed to improving service quality and customer satisfaction, aiming to rank among the top ten service companies in Tanzania.

This visit reflects the government’s push for modern, efficient, and innovative public services that meet the expectations of Tanzanians while keeping pace with global advancements.
