Member of Parliament for Mtumba Constituency, Anthony Mavunde, has launched the construction of a new health centre in Maseya Street, Hombolo Makulu Ward, marking the start of a major community-driven development initiative that fulfills one of his promises made during the 2025 General Election.
The event drew hundreds of residents who joined the MP in clearing the site and laying the foundation stones for the new facility.
The health centre is expected to ease access to medical services for thousands of people in the area who currently travel long distances to seek treatment.
“I sincerely thank the people of Maseya for the confidence you placed in President Samia, me, and our councillor during the last election,” said Mavunde.
“It is now our turn to deliver on our promises and address the challenges our people face. This dispensary will bring healthcare closer to our homes and save lives.”he added
Mavunde announced that he would donate 2,000 bricks and 100 bags of cement to help raise the building to roofing level.
He also expressed optimism that the government, under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, would provide additional support to ensure the project’s timely completion.
“Our government listens to the people’s needs. I am confident that with cooperation between leaders and residents, this project will be completed on schedule,” he added.
Maseya Street Chairperson, Alexander Fwalu, lauded President Samia for implementing key community projects, including the extension of electricity and the drilling of irrigation wells through the National Irrigation Commission, which have significantly improved local farming activities.
“These projects are changing lives,” Fwalu said. “Farmers now have access to reliable irrigation water, enabling them to produce more and improve their income. We are also grateful to our MP for keeping his word and starting the construction of this dispensary so quickly.”
He pledged that residents would contribute labour and locally available materials to support the building process.

“The people of Maseya will give their full cooperation to ensure the health centre is completed on time and begins serving our community,” he said.
The launch of the Maseya Health Centre project reflects the growing collaboration between citizens and leaders in advancing social services in rural Dodoma.
It also highlights the government’s continued investment in improving access to quality healthcare, electricity, and irrigation systems as part of its broader agenda to uplift the lives of Tanzanians.
