JKT Queens coach vows to Bounce back after draw against Gaborone United

By Victoria Godfrey

JKT Queens coach Messy Abdallah insists his team has not lost hope despite starting their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a goalless draw against Gaborone United at the Suez Canal Stadium in Cairo.

The match, played on Monday night, saw JKT Queens create several promising opportunities but fail to convert them into goals.

“I am a bit disappointed with the result because we had the quality to win the game. We created three clear chances but couldn’t turn them into goals. The opponents were well-organized, defending strongly and counter-attacking effectively. They even earned a penalty that could have cost us points, but I want to commend my players especially goalkeeper Najat Idrisa who made a brilliant save to keep us in the game,” Abdallah said.

The coach added that the team has already identified areas that need improvement and will work hard to correct them ahead of their next match against Asec Mimosas on November 12.

Abdallah expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to take on any opponent, believing that strong performances in the upcoming matches will give them a solid chance to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
