All public and private higher learning institutions across the country are expected to reopen as planned for the 2025/2026 academic year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has confirmed.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, the Ministry said first-year students will report to their respective institutions starting November 17, 2025, where they will undergo an orientation programme intended to familiarize them with academic systems, campus regulations and student support services before classes formally begin.
Continuing students are scheduled to resume studies one week later, on November 24, 2025, in line with the approved academic calendar.
The Ministry called on students to adhere strictly to the reporting dates and to prepare adequately for the new semester.
“We encourage all students to report on time and participate fully in academic and institutional programmes. The Ministry wishes every student a productive and successful academic year,” the statement noted.
The Ministry further reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive and enabling learning environment, adding that higher learning institutions remain a key pillar in producing skilled professionals to drive national development.
The statement concluded by urging institutional administrators to ensure smooth coordination of academic activities and provide necessary support to learners throughout the academic year.
