The newly reappointed Attorney General, Mr Hamza S. Johari, has officially assumed office at the Attorney General’s Chambers in Mtumba, Dodoma, following his swearing-in by President Samia Suluhu Hassan on November 5, 2025, at Chamwino State House.
Speaking shortly after reporting to the office, Mr Johari expressed gratitude to President Samia for renewing her trust in him to continue serving as the government’s chief legal advisor.
“I thank Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her confidence in reappointing me to this role, to continue advising the Government in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the United Republic. I am deeply honoured,” he said.
Mr Johari urged staff at the Attorney General’s Chambers to remain committed to professionalism, integrity, and teamwork, emphasising that the efficiency and credibility of the office depend on collective effort.
He called upon legal officers to continuously strengthen their skills and analytical capacity, saying the complexity of contemporary governance issues demands higher levels of legal innovation and preparedness.
“The President has placed her trust in us. We must continue to work diligently and refine our approaches to ensure that the Government receives the best legal advice possible,” he said.
Mr Johari also condemned the isolated incidents of violence and vandalism that occurred during the recent General Election period, noting that legal institutions will work to support national efforts to maintain stability and address the causes of unrest.
“As lawyers, we are well-positioned to help generate sound solutions. We will provide strong legal guidance to aid the Government in safeguarding peace and ensuring the rule of law prevails,” he said.
