Arusha security situation stable, RC Makalla assures residents

Arusha Regional Commissioner (RC) CPA Amos Gabriel Makalla has assured residents, visitors and tourists that the region remains safe, with social and economic activities continuing normally.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after a meeting of the Regional Security Committee, Mr. Makalla said security agencies are maintaining a consistent presence to safeguard stability across the region.

He said the assurance follows directives issued by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who on Monday called for the restoration of calm and continuity of daily activities nationwide after recent disturbances in some urban centres.

“We are informing the public that Arusha is calm. Security and defence organs are fully prepared to ensure peace and allow daily activities to proceed without disruption,” Mr. Makalla said.

He encouraged fuel station operators and other business owners to continue normal operations, saying there was no reason to keep businesses closed.

He also instructed local government leaders at ward and village levels to closely monitor their areas and report any incidents that could compromise public safety.

Meanwhile, the RC has directed all district executive directors in the region, under the coordination of the Regional Administrative Secretary, to strengthen waste management and cleanliness in markets and residential areas.

He said the move is aimed at preventing disease outbreaks associated with poor sanitation.

As of Tuesday, public transport, markets, tourism services and general trade were operating as usual in Arusha, with no disruptions reported.
