The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Ms. Mary Maganga, has urged young Tanzanians to exercise their constitutional right to vote by choosing leaders capable of fulfilling the nation’s collective aspirations over the next five years.
Speaking during the opening of the two-day Tanzania Youth Forum held at City Park Garden in Mbeya, Ms. Maganga said the country’s young population holds the key to Tanzania’s social and economic transformation. She called on them to vote wisely in the upcoming General Election on October 29, 2025.
“Young people are the engine of change and progress in our communities. This is the time to use your power to shape the future you want a future built on integrity, innovation, and inclusive growth. I urge you to turn out in large numbers and vote for leaders with a clear vision for our country,” she said.
Ms. Maganga highlighted that under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Sixth-Phase Government has continued to strengthen youth empowerment programs through policy reforms, legal and institutional frameworks, and economic empowerment initiatives.
These include increased access to soft loans and other forms of support aimed at enhancing youth participation in national development.
She added that the forum serves as a vital platform for young people to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss challenges affecting them, providing valuable insights that the government can use to refine youth policies and development strategies.
Mbeya Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr. Rodrick Mpogolo, encouraged young citizens to remain patriotic and take pride in their country.
He said their energy, creativity, and commitment are essential in building a resilient and prosperous Tanzania.
For his part, the Director of Youth Development in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Seleman Mvunye, said the forum has brought together more than 1,500 youth from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
He explained that the discussions are designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and motivation to take part in social and economic transformation at both local and national levels.
The Tanzania Youth Forum continues to serve as a crucial avenue for amplifying young voices, shaping leadership values, and nurturing a generation ready to drive Tanzania’s vision of sustainable growth and inclusive development.
