Tanzania’s national women’s football team, Twiga Stars, has arrived in Ethiopia ahead of their decisive second-leg clash in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

The team departed Dar es Salaam early Sunday morning with confidence and determination to complete their mission of booking a spot in the continental finals.

Twiga Stars will face Ethiopia on October 28, 2025, in Addis Ababa. Tanzania enters the encounter with a 2–0 aggregate advantage from the first leg played in Dar es Salaam meaning a draw will be enough for them to qualify, while Ethiopia must win by at least three goals to overturn the result.

Head Coach Bakari Shime expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, saying the players have responded well in training and are focused on maintaining their lead.

“All our players are in good condition, and we have no injuries. We’ve worked on our weaknesses from the first match and are ready to fight for a positive outcome,” said Shime.

He also acknowledged the Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) for its continuous support, noting that their assistance has played a major role in boosting the team’s morale.

“The support from TOC has been tremendous. It has motivated the team and strengthened our belief as we continue this journey not only toward WAFCON qualification but also as part of our long-term preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games in the United States,” he added.

With the team in high spirits and focused on victory, Twiga Stars will be looking to make the nation proud once again as they take on Ethiopia in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
