Tanzanian football celebrated a major milestone as clubs secured a total of TZS 80 million in the first round of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The funds come under the government’s “Goli la Mama” initiative, launched by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to reward clubs that perform well in continental competitions.

Tanzania was represented by four clubs, all of which advanced to the group stage, reflecting the growing strength of the country’s football on the international stage.

Azam FC topped the earnings list with TZS 45 million after overwhelming Zanzibar’s KMKM 9–0 on aggregate in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Singida Black Stars followed with TZS 20 million, thanks to a convincing 4–1 aggregate victory over Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre.

In the CAF Champions League, Simba SC collected TZS 15 million after defeating Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs 3–0 on aggregate. Yanga SC earned TZS 10 million, edging Malawi’s Silver Strikers 2–0 at home despite a 1–0 away defeat.

These results highlight not only the dedication of the players and clubs but also the impact of government support in elevating Tanzanian football through initiatives like “Goli la Mama.” Football fans across the country are now looking forward to the group stage, hoping for continued success on the continental stage.
