By The Respondent Reporter

The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has confirmed the presence of Cyclone “CHENGE” in the southwestern Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar, roughly 2,400 kilometers east of the Mtwara coast.

The cyclone began forming on October 17, 2025, in the eastern Indian Ocean and has gradually strengthened while remaining in the same area.

TMA forecasts indicate that Cyclone “CHENGE” is likely to move westward toward the Tanzanian coastline over the next four to five days, between October 26 and 27, 2025, while its intensity is expected to decrease.

The agency is closely monitoring the cyclone’s path and potential effects on local weather, ensuring timely updates are provided to the public.

Public Advisory: Residents and marine operators are urged to stay informed through TMA’s regular updates and follow guidance from weather and safety experts.

Avoid unnecessary travel or sea activities during this period and prepare for possible heavy rains and strong winds along affected coastal areas.
