The presidential candidate for the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party has praised the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) for its continued efforts in providing reliable electricity in Dar es Salaam without frequent interruptions.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Ubungo Constituency, the candidate commended TANESCO’s progress and performance, describing it as a major step forward in the country’s development.
“Not long ago, we used to complain about constant power outages and unreliable supply. But today, electricity is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” the candidate said, drawing applause from the crowd.
The remarks have been widely supported by citizens, who say the availability of stable electricity is driving the nation’s economic growth and improving livelihoods.
A resident of Goba Ward in Ubungo District, Mrs. Joyce who runs a poultry business, said consistent power supply has greatly improved her productivity.
“I rely on poultry farming for my income. Reliable electricity has made my business operations much easier and more efficient. I no longer worry about outages, and I can now produce more,” she said.
In her speech, the presidential hopeful added that TANESCO has maintained a commendable level of customer service, even during emergencies.
“Nowadays, if there is a power cut, which happens only in a few areas, TANESCO ensures there is proper communication and explanation for the cause,” he emphasized.
The candidate’s remarks align with TANESCO’s recent achievements, including being recognized nationally for excellence in customer service and consistent energy provision.
The company continues to strengthen the national grid and implement key projects to expand and stabilize power supply across Dar es Salaam.
The ongoing projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year without disrupting service delivery to city residents.
