Mara Regional Commissioner Major General Evans Mtambi has warned against disorder during the upcoming general elections on October 29, 2025, saying anyone “losing their head” over election excitement will face legal action.
Speaking on Friday at Mwembeni Complex during a teacher training program for eight regions in the Lake and Western Zones, Mtambi said authorities are prepared to ensure voters can exercise their rights in a peaceful and secure environment.
“This is an election year. Political activities are proceeding smoothly. All parties have had equal opportunities to campaign, candidates have presented their programs, and citizens are engaging actively. Democracy in Mara is growing,” he said.
Mtambi, who also chairs the Mara Regional Security Committee, cautioned that individuals prone to overreaction must restrain themselves. “Anyone attempting to create chaos will face serious consequences.
We will not tolerate disturbances caused by election fever,” he said.
He added that political parties in the region have conducted campaigns peacefully, providing citizens with opportunities to attend rallies and meetings across Mara.
