TRA directors engage Morogoro traders to promote voluntary tax compliance

By The Respondent Reporter

Senior directors from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) have visited traders in Morogoro in an effort to strengthen relations, address challenges, and promote voluntary tax compliance.

The team included the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Moshi Kabengwe, the Director of Policy and Research, Mr. E. Mdee, and the Director of Risk and Compliance, Ms. Annette Magogo. They were hosted by the Morogoro Regional TRA Manager, Mr. Sylver Rutagwelera.

The visit, held on September 11, also featured the presentation of tokens of appreciation to selected taxpayers.

According to TRA, the gesture was meant to thank businesses for honoring their tax obligations voluntarily, a contribution that has helped the authority surpass its revenue collection targets.

In addition to meeting traders, the directors held an internal session with TRA staff in the region. The discussions focused on listening to workplace challenges, encouraging professionalism, and reinforcing the need to provide high-quality services to taxpayers.

The initiative is part of TRA’s ongoing outreach programs designed to build trust with the business community while promoting a culture of voluntary tax compliance as a driver of sustainable national development.
