Simba Sports Club has appointed Hemed Seleiman “Morocco” as caretaker coach ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League preliminary round return leg.
The announcement comes after the club parted ways with head coach Fadlu Davids and assistant coach Seleman Matola was sidelined due to a red-card suspension.
In a statement, Simba thanked the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for permitting Morocco, who also serves as a national team coach, to step in temporarily while the club works on securing a permanent head coach.
Morocco will lead the technical bench when Simba host Botswana’s Gaborone United on September 28 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Simba head into the decisive tie with a slim advantage, having edged Gaborone 1-0 away in the first leg under the guidance of Davids.
The victory gives the Tanzanian giants an upper hand, but the club’s leadership will be hoping that Morocco can steady the team and secure qualification to the next stage of Africa’s elite competition.
