The construction of a stone bridge across the Katupa River, alongside the ongoing upgrade of the Majimoto–Namanyele road to gravel standard in Mpimbwe District, Katavi Region, has been hailed as a catalyst for agricultural growth and improved livelihoods for local farmers.
According to Engineer Paul Mabaya, Manager of the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) in Mlele District, the project is valued at TZS 361.95 million, with implementation progress standing at 95 percent.
He explained that the works include the construction of the stone bridge, 1.5 kilometers of gravel road, and three culverts.
Funding for the project comes through the World Bank–supported Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Economy (RISE) program.
National Torch Race 2025 leader, Mr. Ismail Ali Ussi, noted that the government’s commitment is to ensure that citizens benefit from reliable infrastructure that spurs development.
Meanwhile, a local resident of Majimoto village, Mr. Shija Shigela, expressed his gratitude to TARURA for the project, urging the agency to expand road development initiatives across the country.
