In a recent announcement, Fabius Cravery, a retired journalist and member of the opposition party, ACT-Wazalendo, has declared his candidacy for the councilor position in Igurwa Ward, Kagera District.
Cravery is urging the residents of Igurwa ward, to elect him for bringing about significant progress and addressing the issues that have been arising under current leadership.
The campaign comes in light of a critical assessment of the ward's development initiatives, particularly during the 2020 to 2025 period under the ruling party, CCM.
He points out that the implemented projects have lagged compared to the previous term (2015-2020), which was led by the opposition.
He argues that this shift has left many community-led initiatives, such as the Satellite School of Umurutete and the incomplete Kankoto Satellite School, without adequate support and resources from the government.
Speaking to the media, Cravery highlighted the potential of community members to effect change and improve local infrastructure if empowered appropriately.
He emphasized that, if elected, he would advocate for the completion of stalled projects and actively seek funding from various sources to address the needs of the residents.
Cravery aims to restore initiative and accountability within the ward, ensuring that citizens are informed of developments and can actively engage in governance.
Cravery’s campaign underscores the ACT Wazalendo party's commitment to fostering nationalism and prioritizing the concerns of Tanzanians.
Since its inception in 2014, the party has gained traction, promising a brighter future and valuing the input of all citizens.
As part of his platform, Cravery has vowed to focus on economic development, uphold human rights, and ensure equal opportunities for all, particularly for youth.
He believes that nurturing these values is essential for fostering peace and enhancing overall productivity within the community.
With the elections approaching, Cravery’s call to action resonates with many citizens seeking meaningful change in local governance.
