The Ministry of Finance has urged its employees to start preparing early for life after retirement by investing in development projects that can sustain them and continue contributing to their families and the nation.
The call was made by the Assistant Director of Administration and Human Resources, Ms. Fauzia Nombo, who spoke on behalf of the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration, Ms. Jenifa Christian Omolo, during a farewell ceremony for retired office administrators held at Simba Hotel Hall in Dodoma.
Ms. Nombo stressed that public servants should set economic, social and health goals well in advance of retirement in order to live with dignity, peace and fulfillment.
“Retirement with preparation is a blessing, but retirement without preparation becomes a burden. For those still in service, it is important to begin the journey of preparing for life after work early, to secure a future filled with peace and success,” she said.
She described public service as a long journey of challenges and achievements, noting that reaching retirement is proof of commitment, endurance and solidarity. She added that retirement should not be seen as an ordinary event but as a mark of honor and a lesson for those still in service.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Ms. Agness Kanola, one of the office administrators who retired, expressed gratitude to the ministry for recognizing their contribution and organizing the farewell ceremony.
“We have served the nation with dedication for many years, and today we are proud to see our work appreciated. We urge those still in service to continue working diligently, but also to prepare early for retirement because life after work requires knowledge, planning and peace of mind,” Ms. Kanola said.
The event honored four retired office administrators who completed their service between 2024 and 2025, namely Grace Swale, Hilda Kibona, Agness Kanola and Jitihada Lulela. It was attended by senior ministry officials, current employees and invited guests.
