Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids says he is fully satisfied with his squad as the club heads into the 2025/26 campaign, promising fans a stronger and more competitive team.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam today ahead of the Simba Day celebrations set for tomorrow at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Davids said last season was about laying a foundation, but this year his players are ready to push for success.

“Last season was a building process. This time we are stronger and better prepared. To match top clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly you need depth in every position, but I am happy with the balance of this squad after the transfer window closed,” Davids said.

He added that the new signings have boosted the team in every department and expressed confidence that Simba will deliver a more consistent campaign.

On preparations for tomorrow’s friendly against Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, Davids said his players are in good shape and motivated to give a strong performance.

Midfielder Mohamed Bajaber echoed his coach’s confidence, assuring fans that the players will give their best in front of a packed stadium.

“We know it’s a friendly, but for Simba it’s a special occasion. We want to make our fans proud,” Bajaber said.

Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor described the fixture as an important test for his side ahead of their season, while captain Philemon Otieno thanked Simba for their warm hospitality and said his teammates are fully focused on the match.
