Residents in Geita are witnessing the practical rollout of clean energy solutions, as the Rural Energy Agency (REA) showcases subsidized clean cooking technologies during the 8th National Mining Technology Exhibition.
At the REA pavilion, citizens flocked to purchase gas stoves and improved cookstoves at subsidized prices, a move aimed at promoting the use of clean energy and reducing reliance on traditional firewood and charcoal.
Excited customers described the initiative as a timely intervention that will ease household energy costs and protect the environment.
The exhibition, officially opened by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa, highlighted the government’s commitment to linking the mining sector with wider development goals, including access to affordable and sustainable energy.
By encouraging rural households to shift towards gas and efficient stoves, REA is not only supporting the national clean energy agenda but also improving health outcomes by reducing smoke-related risks from traditional cooking methods.
The Geita exhibition continues to serve as a platform where government institutions, private companies, and the public interact on innovative technologies driving Tanzania’s development.
