Alphonce Simbu returns home as Tanzania’s World Champion

Tanzanian athletics hero Alphonce Simbu, fresh from his historic gold medal victory, is set to arrive home at around 2 p.m. at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam.

Simbu, alongside his teammate, represented Tanzania at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, which concluded last week. His remarkable performance secured a gold medal, bringing pride to the nation.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Tanzania Athletics Association President Rogath Stephen urged citizens to turn out in large numbers to welcome the champion.

"I thank all Tanzanians for their prayers, and I congratulate Simbu for his courage and determination in the final stretch," Stephen said.

He emphasized the level of competition, noting, "The World Championships are incredibly tough, and winning is never easy. Simbu not only competed but made history by proudly representing Tanzania and raising our flag on the global stage."
