The Deputy President of Yanga SC, Arafat Hajj, has convened a special meeting with branch leaders, senior members, and fan group coordinators at the club’s headquarters in Jangwani, Dar es Salaam.
The gathering marked a crucial step in the club’s preparations for the upcoming Citizen’s Week, scheduled for September 12, 2025.
Hajj revealed that the highlight match of the celebrations will see Yanga face Kenya’s Bandari Club in a thrilling showdown.
“I urge every branch to fully engage in this campaign. Ensure that no supporter is left behind. Together, let’s fill Benjamin Mkapa Stadium—our home ground this season and make this event unforgettable,” Hajj said.
He also stressed the importance of membership cards, urging members to ensure their memberships are active and dues are paid promptly.
“Some members have cards but have not settled their fees. Your contributions are vital—they allow us to register top players and strengthen our squad. Come September 12 at Mkapa Stadium, you will see the impact of your support. Players like Kouma, Ichle, Ecua, and others are here thanks to your commitment,” he added.
Shaban Huda, coordinator for Dar es Salaam branches, emphasized the privilege given to the city to host the launch of Citizen’s Week.
“As residents of Dar es Salaam, we have been honored with this responsibility. Let us all uphold it with pride and make the event a success,” Huda said.
Meanwhile, Yanga’s Communications Officer, Ally Kamwe, praised the Deputy President for making time to meet members despite his busy schedule.
“The date for Citizen’s Day has been announced after careful planning. Many wondered why it falls on a Friday rather than a weekend. This is due to FIFA’s scheduling. Any other date would have caused conflicts with players called up for national duty,” Kamwe explained.
He further noted that with other competitions, including the Community Shield and Premier League fixtures, scheduling the climax on September 12 ensures maximum fan engagement and entertainment.
