Taifa Stars receive TZS 55 million reward after crucial win over Mauritania

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars have been rewarded with a total of TSh 55 million following their hard-fought 1-0 victory against Mauritania in the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on August 6, 2025 Scored by Shomary Kapombe.

Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Hamis Mwinjuma, led the rewards by handing over TSh 10 million to the team in recognition of the decisive “goli la mama” (match-winning goal). 

His gesture was complemented by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, who contributed TSh 20 million.

Adding to the support, prominent businessman and sports patron, Mr. Azzim Dewji, pledged TSh 25 million, applauding the players for their resilience and commitment on the field.

The collective contribution reflects the growing confidence in Taifa Stars as they pursue further success in the tournament, igniting hope and excitement among Tanzanian football fans nationwide. 

The team now prepares to build on this momentum as they aim to advance deeper into the competition.
